Greetings and Welcome to
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated,
Phi Chi Omega Chapter
Greetings!
As the 7th President of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®, Phi Chi Omega chapter, I am honored to welcome you to our chapter’s official website and virtual home. Since our chartering in 2001, Phi Chi Omega chapter has created “A Legacy of Sisterhood and Service”. As the first graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in Surry and Isle of Wight Counties, we provide engaging, empowering, and enduring programs and events to meet the diverse needs of not one, but both communities. Due to the Pandemic of 2020, we were forced to put our milestone Anniversary Celebration of 20 years on hold, but we are looking forward to celebrating with the community who has supported us for two decades in the near future.
Phi Chi Omega chapter joins the over 1000 chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® in executing the vision of our International President, Glenda Glover, through the Exemplifying Excellence Through Sustainable Service program platform: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action, Women Healthcare & Wellness, Building Your Economic Legacy, the Arts and Global Impact. The signature program #CAPS (College Admission Process) is designed to assist students in their efforts to enter college successfully.
We have sponsored numerous chapter specific initiatives such as:
-
Local food drives to support a food desert community
-
Pink Goes Red Fashion Show for Heart Health Month
-
Mr. Emerald Youth empowerment program for High School young adult men
-
Events to bring awareness to health issues impacting the communities such as diabetes, cancer, Alzheimer’s, and mental health.
-
Feeding and Caring for the Homeless - Mission of Hope Program
-
Sponsorship and Service to the Local Branches of the NAACP during Annual MLK Events
-
Annual Academic Scholarships to Rising College Freshman
As a chapter of nearly 40 dynamic and distinguished women, Phi Chi Omega chapter maybe small in size, but we are big at heart, an energetic, passionate and connected chapter where each member is “Inspired to Serve, Empowered to Lead, Committed to Make a Difference in the Lives of Others”. Our members are encouraged to develop and use their unique talents, creativity and skills to support innovative and impactful chapter programming and activities.
